Registered or Unregistered individual that is using utrak or its affiliated services. applies to the individual that is (aggreeing to / reading) this privacy policy
- Short link / Short url
User created paths on our url shortner service pointing to a external resource that is not controlled by "us" (url)

1. Information we collect
There are few ways we may collect data on a User. note that, all data collection services are essential for providing our service and thus cannot be turned off.
- 1.1 Information collected when creating an account
When creating an account with us using the Register page you will be asked to provide an unique username and a password.
The username is stored in our databases to provide the user with our services. the password is stored securely as a hash. - 1.2 Information collected when logging in
(Log in / Sign in) in collects the bare minimum it requires to authenticate the user. None of the gathered data is retained permanently; instead, it is solely utilized for verification against the existing registered information to validate the authenticity of the provided data.
- 1.3 Information collected when clicking on / visiting a short link
This section only applies when visiting a short link directly and not viewing its status page situated at "/status/#[linkId]". When visiting a short link the following information will be collected from the users browser.
- Browser information - Browser name and browser version
- Country information - Uses ip geolocation to find your country. Does not store the ip itself
- Referrer information - Uses browser provided information to find referrer data. see developers guide for more information.
- Operating system information - Uses browser provided data to record operating system name and version
Short links will be forwarded to their corresponding url that is set by the owning user of that short link. see 3rd party data sharing for more information.
- 1.4 Information collected when reporting user generated content or getting reported
When a user submits a report for any content hosted by the site, it will create snapshots of both the reporting user and the reported party. After manual verification, action is taken, and the snapshots will be cleared.
If a verdict of "guilty" is given, a ban will be logged within our databases, and the offender's short links will be removed, and the account will be locked to prevent further abuse. No action, such as deleting the user account, can be taken by the offending user unless the report is appealed.
2. 3rd party data sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to external parties. However when using the utrak site you may encounter 3rd party websites that are used by us to provide you with quality service. These include captcha services, analytics services, error reporting services, etc...

Data shared with short link creators
When clicking on a short link, you will be redirected to sites owned or controlled by the owning user of the short link. Thus, utrak has no control over what data is collected when visiting a short link. Use necessary precautions when clicking on short links. Any abuse can be reported to us by email or using the tools provided.
3. Data security
Utrak and its affiliated services employ industry-standard security practices to safeguard your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is entirely secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security. It is important to note that Utrak does NOT store any major sensitive data, and any sensitive data that requires storage is encrypted.
It is advised that users follow standard security practices, such as using a password manager, to mitigate the risk of malicious use in the event of a data breach.
4. Data removal
In the event that you deem it necessary to delete your information stored on our server, please log in and navigate to your account page. Subsequently, utilize the "account delete" form to initiate the deletion process. Your deletion request shall be subject to a 30-day processing period and remains revocable during this timeframe. Please be advised that users are unable to delete click statistics recorded by short links generated by other users.
